Homes for sale in Shapherd Park and the rest of 20012
Shepherd Park occupies the most northern tip of the District of Columbia. The rest of 20012 includes the nearby neighborhoods of Colonial Heights, Brightwood, and Takoma Park.. It is a quiet residential community. Home styles range from Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival, and Spanish Colonial Revival houses; bungalows and other early-20th-century vernacular styles; and midcentury ramblers. There is a significant concentration of mail-order kit houses by the Lewis Manufacturing Company and by Sears in the southeast corner of the neighborhood.
It is home to the San Miguel School (One of the top schools in the country) as well as schools in the public school system. There is shopping nearby and access to downtown is available via many different routes.
The area is also home to the famous Bishop’s House, known for sharing Christmas delight every year.
The gentle tree lined neighborhoods streets give way to Rock Creek Park in the west and Rock Creek Golf Course (Home of the Capitol Chippers) is located just down 16th street in Rock Creek Park. While the area is not considered “walkable” from a walkscore stand point, it is only 5 minutes from everything. The Marc Train Station is right up Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring and the Metro Rail system has stops in both Silver Spring and Takoma Park.
It will be interesting to see what becomes of the Walter Reed site that has been closed. Look for an upscale mixed use development to appear there in the future. This area remains one of the better values in Washington DC. If you would like more information, fill out the form and i will get back to you.
